Your Home for Homeownership Facts and Fun
According to American author Laura Ingalls Wilder, “Home is the nicest word there is.” A home not only provides shelter and safety for families to flourish; it is also an important financial investment and a proud milestone many work to achieve.
But for many Americans, owning a home still feels out of reach. According to a recent survey of 2,000 U.S. adults conducted by RealtyMogul and Harris Poll, here are the top three reasons why Americans choose to continue renting:
- The belief that the homebuying process is overwhelming, confusing and time-consuming – from house-hunting to negotiating with sellers to the mortgage process.
- The belief they can’t afford to own and maintain a home, especially saving enough money for a down payment.
- Experiences, like vacations, are more valuable than homeownership.
But, buying a home doesn’t have to be overwhelming, unaffordable or a sacrifice. At PrimeLending, we believe homeownership when done right is still a smart investment and good decision. It’s been our honor to be a part of many personal homeownership stories for more than 30 years.
This June, during National Homeownership Month, we’re going to take a closer look at the homeownership process and have some fun along the way. Each week, we’ll help make the homebuying process simpler by debunking common myths, translating confusing terms, breaking down the dos and don’ts or sharing surprising facts. It’s our way of celebrating the month! Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to learn more.
