Summer is winding down and a long weekend is ahead. This year’s Labor Day may look a little different than most, with travel restrictions and additional health guidelines in place. Just because there may be additional restrictions doesn’t mean you can’t plan a fun Labor Day for the family at home.
We’re sharing some of our favorite at-home Labor Day activities below.
Cook Out with the Family
Nothing says Labor Day like lots of yummy food with the family. Planning a big feast with plenty of summer flavors is the best way to celebrate a long weekend. When it’s time to fire up the grill, be sure to have a game plan! These recipes are sure to be a hit with your family: Labor Day recipes.
Camping in the Back Yard
Nothing says summer like spending time in the great outdoors. If you can’t make the drive out to your favorite camping spot, make the most of your situation by setting up a small camping retreat in your very own back yard! Be sure to have flash lights on hand, sleeping bags, a tent and your favorite campfire snacks. A s’mores station is sure to be a hit with the kids! Here are 25 back yard camping ideas to try out this weekend.
Enjoy the last of summer’s warm temps by the pool with a few friends or in nature at a natural swimming hole nearby. Soak up the sun and relax into the long weekend. Interested in finding a natural swimming hole? Check out this list on popular places near your hometown by Country Living here.
Back Yard Movie Night
Theaters may have begun opening, but if you’re still weary of spending time around larger groups of people, a great alternative could be setting up a back yard movie night with the family. This way you can keep to yourself but still get a “movie theater” experience! Set up a snack station, let people vote on the movie that’s playing and set up some comfy lounge chairs for maximum relaxation!
No matter how you spend the long weekend, but sure to get lots of rest and relaxation in. We hope we were able to spark some ideas to make this Labor Day at home the best yet! Have some ideas you want to share with us? Leave them in the comments below!
